Sample Projects

Kenya, Education and Technology: Evaluation the “Livestreaming of Lessons” Teachers Service Commission/Ministry of Education Project, 2023-2024.

Teachers Service Commission (TSC)/Ministry of Education, with the funding from the World Banks, commissioned an evaluation of a Pilot Project “Livestreaming of Lessons” implementation in the 2 Principal Schools (source of lessons) and 10 Satellite Schools (Recipients of lessons: shortages of teachers and facilities) in the selected pilot counties in Kenya. The evaluation serves to: i) Conduct a comprehensive assessment – conduct a learning evaluation to ascertain its impact and efficacy in improving learning outcomes. ii) Document Lessons Learned: Document the pedagogical outcomes, technical limitations, challenges encountered during the pilot, and the learning impact of the intervention, and iii) Develop a blueprint: Taking lessons from the initial pilot, provide recommendations to enhance both the technological and pedagogical frameworks. OWN and Associates conducted the evaluation of the pilot project and gave recommendations for necessary requirements for expansions in the following areas: i) Education and Leadership Adaptation, ii) Technology requirements, access and use, iii) Operations and Logistics, iv) Pedagogical Integration of technology and Learning Outcomes, v) Engagement & Motivations, and vi) Project Management. The results and recommendations of this study were used by TSC/MoE to expand the project to 192 schools across the country, with a target of reaching 6,000 schools by end of 2025. The study influenced the development of a blueprint for livestreaming of lessons in Kenya in secondary school, with an aim of addressing teachers and facilities shortages especially in ASAL areas and pocket of poverty in various counties Baseline Survey of ECED and Strategic Plan Preparation with a focus on Monitoring and Learning, 2008.

Rwanda, Education: External audit and follow-up assessment of Higher Learning Institutions in Rwanda. 2021-2022.

This assignment was commissioned by the Commission for Higher Education, Rwanda. The proposed assignment was to conduct a comprehensive external audit and follow- up assessment for Higher Learning Institutions in Rwanda. OWN and Associate provide a team lead, whose task include the following:  Leading, managing and coordinating; establishing agreed frameworks, technical approach methodology, and tools for audit and assessment, leading field visits and assessment of the higher learning institutions, giving policy advice and direction, and report writing and validation. Following the assignment, consolidated recommendations were given for each learning institutions in the areas of policy, academic programmes, assessment of students, academic staff and general teaching-learning environment.   The assignment significantly influenced   merging higher learning institutions into one University of Rwanda (with  several campuses), leading to efficiency,  effectiveness and proper coordination of higher education institutions in Rwanda.- National Skills Audit and Evaluation in Priority Sectors, integrating Monitoring and Learning frameworks, 2016-2017.
